Card Collection

On masterball, you can collect most German and English Pokémon cards. But how exactly does it work, and what features does the platform offer?

Last updated:

Card Languages

At this time, masterball supports German and English cards; that is our focus. However, our architecture is designed so that we can expand to other languages as smoothly as possible.

As far as languages go, Japanese cards will most likely be the next ones we plan to support in the long term. You’ll learn more about this on our blog when the time comes.

Each language is treated separately; that is, if you collect a German card, it won’t automatically appear in your English collection. They must always be handled separately.

Sets

On masterball, not every set is available immediately—this applies to both the newest sets and older ones. This is because each set in every language goes through its own import process and must be reviewed for content.

What we want to guarantee is that the latest sets are always prioritized and made available shortly after their official release. We’ll gradually import older sets retroactively and announce them separately, so you can neatly add older cards to your collection later on.

Where can I find the available cards?

In the masterball.app platform menu, you can see the menu item “Cards”. If you click on it, you’ll first be taken to an overview of all English Pokémon TCG sets, such as Mega Evolution or Scarlet & Violet. If you want to collect German cards, simply switch to the other tab; by default, however, as an English Trainer, you’ll be redirected to the English card page.

Next, select the set your card is from. You can see which set your card comes from by looking at the abbreviation in the bottom-left corner of the card (or as an icon, if it’s an older card). You’ll also always find this abbreviation on our site next to the full set name.

How do I collect my cards?

If you’re already registered as a Trainer, you can start collecting now; registration is required, as otherwise we won’t be able to assign the card to a specific user.

You can collect cards in the set overview as well as in the card details view:

In the overview

  • Adding a card: Left-click the colored checkbox below the card to add it to the variant once. Clicking again increases the count by 1 each time.
  • Removing a card: Right-click on the colored checkbox below the card to remove it from the variant once. Clicking again reduces the count by 1 each time. The count can never fall below 0.

On the card detail view

  • Adding a card: Left-click the plus sign in your variant’s row to add it once. Clicking again increases the count by 1 each time.
  • Removing a card: Left-click the minus sign in your variant’s row to remove it once. Clicking again increases the count by 1 each time. The count can never fall below 0.

Once a click is registered, it may take a moment for the change to appear and for you to receive the XP for the card and variant.

How much XP do I get per card?

The amount of XP depends on many factors. By default, each card grants 1–4 XP depending on its rarity and 1–2 additional XP per variant. On top of that, a series of multipliers are applied based on the card’s type and rarity.

You can find an overview of how XP is calculated in our “XP” article.
